Celebrate National Yearbook Week!

The first full week of October marks National Yearbook Week, a special time to celebrate the creativity, dedication, and hard work behind every school yearbook. Established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, this week recognizes the lasting memories and milestones captured on each page. Whether you're a student contributor, a teacher adviser, or simply someone who cherishes your yearbook, this week is for you!

At Picaboo Yearbooks, we understand the value of preserving the unique stories of schools and organizations. That’s why we’re inviting everyone to join in the fun with our School Yearbook Photo Scavenger Hunt—a perfect way to engage with your yearbook community and celebrate together!

Remember, yearbooks aren’t just books—they’re lifelong keepsakes. Let’s celebrate the joy of capturing memories that last a lifetime.

  • It’s day 1 of National Yearbook Week Challenges - and we’re starting strong! It’s time to get kick things off with a behind-the-scenes challenge your team will love…Challenge: “POV: I’m on Yearbook Staff”

Teachers and staff — capture short clips of students snapping photos, brainstorming page names, sketching layouts, or working together. Show off those budding storytellers in action!

For your older students, record authentic, candid moments like team meetings, layout edits, caffeine-fueled marathons, funny mistakes, and inside jokes.

✨ Bonus points for stitching together clips from multiple team members into one fun Reel or TikTok!

Post and tag us — and don’t forget to use #YearbookWeek and #POVYearbookStaff so we can see it!

Include where they can find more information about the challenge (add bitly link to NYB to our site)

  • It’s DAY 2 of National Yearbook Week and today’s challenge is all about double the fun, double the creativity!

    Challenge: Dress Like Twins!

Grab your bestie, a teacher, or your yearbook advisor and come to school twinning in style! Whether you go full matching outfits or just coordinated accessories, today is all about showing off your duo energy.

Pair up older and younger students, or let besties team up.

Create a fun Twin Photo Booth with props like mustaches, glasses, and silly wigs.

Bonus idea: Take a whole class photo featuring all the twin pairs!

Challenge students and staff to match outfits, hairstyles, and accessories.

Yearbook teams—capture the best-dressed twins in a Reel, TikTok, or fun slideshow to feature in your book or social!

Share it and tag us with #YearbookWeek #TwinDayChallenge so we can see your style!

Hold up signs or sticky notes: “My yearbook = my high school story” or “The only book that makes me laugh AND cry.”

Quick interviews with friends, teachers, or staff

What does the yearbook mean to you in one word?” or “Why do you buy the yearbook every year?”

    Challenge: Yearbook Staff Superlatives!

Celebrate your team’s quirks, talents, and inside jokes with yearbook-style awards — from silly to sincere!

Create fun superlatives and assign them to your yearbook crew. For our elementary schools think Yearbook Heros! Give out superlatives like:  Most Helpful, Best Picture-Taker or Silliest Caption.

For your older students, get creative with inside jokes and yearbook humor. Try awards like: Caption Queen/King or Best Excuse for Missing Deadlines.

Present them in a fun way — video, slideshow, or award ceremony

Post your photos or videos and tag us using #YearbookWeek #SuperlativeShowdown

  • Day 5 of National Yearbook Week is here, and it’s time to show off the glow-up your pages went through!

Challenge: Page Process – From Sketch to Masterpiece

Every great yearbook spread starts with a messy brainstorm — and ends as a polished piece of art. Today, we’re celebrating that creative journey!

Teachers & staff: capture students drawing, writing, or brainstorming their page ideas. Then, show off the final yearbook page they helped create!

Bonus: Create a simple slideshow showing the before-and-after transformation!

For your older students, let’s get trendy! Create a TikTok or Reel using popular glow-up audio to highlight your process:

Start with sticky notes, sketches, layout drafts. End with the polished, print-ready spread. Show off how your ideas turned into something amazing!
